The Crossing provides 16,000 square feet of space on the link bridge between the Brunel Plaza and Brunel Arcade and is made up of 9 units plus 4 street food kiosks and 3 smaller units.

Previously, the centre had 4.9% of space dedicated to food service.  Analyzing comparable town centre shopping centres the norm is between 16 and 20%.  By creating an additional 16,000 square feet of food service space, the total dedicated to food service is now 8% of the shopping centre space.  The area is accessed by a new external ground floor escalator which has a direct links from prime shopping areas of The Parade and Regent Street.  It is also directly accessed on the 1st floor from the main car park servicing the shopping centre.

The Crossing is targeted at the day-time, quick service food sector, providing trade from breakfast through to early evening.  The Crossing sits perfectly within the existing, successful restaurant and food offering in the town centre – Regents Circus and Swindon Outlet.

Brunel customers, when surveyed on the proposed food hub, enthusiastically embraced the new concept commenting they would like to see ‘a licensed restaurant, more choice of food and more food places’.
